Valery León Quintero
Transitional and Restorative Justice Educator
Valery León Quintero (she/they) is LLV’s Director of Transitional and Restorative Justice. She joins the LLV team with a background in conflict, violence, transitional justice, and reparations. Valery holds a B.A. in International Relations with a concentration in Peace and Security and a B.A. in Sociology. Her research interests are genocide, violence, conflict, and justice efforts that are implemented to guarantee restoration.
As an immigrant, Valery is interested in equity, power, and privilege and how they manifest among different people. Throughout her career, Valery has centered on first-generation, low-income, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and immigrant rights in higher education. As an educator, Valery centers the voices of communities to ensure equity, resilience, and love in the work with them. Ultimately, Valery’s goal is to connect experiences to theory to ensure justice.
Valery currently serves as an AmeriCorps Campus Compact VISTA in her alma mater, Wheaton College, Massachusetts.
