Sarah Murphy

Research and Education Specialist

Sarah Murphy (she/her) is the Research and Education Specialist for LLV. Sarah recently graduated from Bridgewater State University with her Masters of Social Work and previously completed her Bachelor of Social Work. As Graduate Assistant for the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice, Sarah developed programming for undergraduate students and implemented trainings focused on advocacy, social justice, social change and community engagement. Through her work, she mentored undergraduate students, preparing them to serve as team leaders for Alternative Break experiences and empowering them to enact sustainable change in their communities. Sarah’s work is focused on fostering a sense of community and belonging within groups, creating a platform for individuals to use their voice, and amplifying the voices of those who are unable.

Sarah’s previous work has been focused on gender equality, disparities in mental health/health services and housing inequity both in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. In addition to this work, Sarah is also an active member of the National Association of Social Work (NASW) where she was recently appointed Southeast Region representative on the NASW-MA Chapter Board. She previously served as NASW’s Student Ambassador BSW (2020) and MSW (2022).
